MOBILE APP FOR TOURISTS GIVES INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARCHITECTURAL LANDMARKS IN SOFIA

Millennial history hidden under the streets of Sofia appears on an interactive map. Ivaylo Tzankov, founder and owner of a company developing the tourist app explains how easy it is to upload the whole information in internet:

„We are developing a tourist app with expanded reality. One could see pictures and find information in three languages – English, German and Bulgarian. The information is general. The idea is to have a compass that shows you were are located the objects in the expanded reality. One could see how they have been looking in the antiquity.”

Martin Ivanov who also develops the tourist app explains that the objects are based on their real GPS coordinates but he has been inspired by something else:

„I am professionally involved in architecture and architectural landmarks preservation. This is an additional way to show the visitors what lies below without physically interfering in the cultural landmarks. We will show them through digital means, which is very suitable for the age we live in. So far we have the eight antique Serdika objects that have statute of monuments. Other Serdika objects are located in building basements in the city, under streets, etc. Everything that is visible over ground and the tourists could visit and see by themselves is included in the app.”
